NOBLESVILLE – The Norwell boys basketball team beat Crown Point 49-45 on Wednesday morning and then fell to Chesterton, 43-39, in the Noblesville Holiday Tournament final on Wednesday evening.

The Knights (8-2), who were the only Clas 3A team in the field, beat Lawrence Central 69-59 on Tuesday to move into the winners bracket. Luke McBride scored 19 points in the morning win, Lleyton Bailey had 11 and Ashton Federspiel had nine.

The win over Crown Point was the 200th of coach Michael McBride's career. Luke McBride was one of six players named to the all-tournament team. 

North Daviess Tournament

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 50, BARR-REEVE 39: At Elnora, Gage Sefton led the Class 2A No. 3 Braves (8-0) past 2 the Class A No. 2 Vikings (7-3) by scoring 27 points. Jacob Boyer scored nine and Jimmy Davidson scored eight. Blackhawk Christian is set to face Brownstown Central in the tournament championship Thursday night. 

Clay City Classic

NORTH SIDE 74, TRADERS POINT CHRISTIAN 54: At Clay City, Jordan Green had a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots, Jerry Powers scored 20 points, Ryan Collins and Rodney Woods each scored 12 and Brauntae Johnson scored eight points with six steals and seven assists. The Legends (5-6) advance to the tournament championship tomorrow, where they will face Martinsville. 

Richmond Bob Wettig Tournament 

Bloomington South 47, Northrop 33; Richmond 72, Northrop 57: At Richmond, after beating Lawrenceburg and Central Christian on Tuesday, the Bruins (6-5) suffered two setbacks. Omarion Ennols led Northrop with 12 points in the first game of the day against Bloomington South and Jalen Jackson scored 30 points for the Bruins in the nightcap. Jackson was named to the 2021 All-Wettig team. 

Warsaw Classic

BISHOP DWENGER 48, WARSAW 39: At Warsaw, the Saints (3-5) closed out the tournament with a 16-5 fourth-quarter that gave them a win over the Tigers (6-3). Owen Shivle led Bishop Dwenger with 14 points, C.J. Pieper had 10 and Preston Ross had 10 rebounds. Jaxson Gould scored 14 for the Tigers.

Wawasee Tournament 

Woodlan claimed the Wawasee Holiday Tournament Championship by beating Wawasee 63-57 in overtime in the title game on Wednesday night. Woodlan (6-6) reached the final by ending a five-game slide and easily dismissing Rochester, 61-34, earlier Wednesday. Wawasee (4-6) beat Garrett 56-38 in its early game. 

Garrett (2-8) fell to Rochester, 46-40, in the third-place game. Tyler Gater led the Railroaders in both games, scoring nine points against Wawasee and 11 against Rochester. 

WINCHESTER 59, BLUFFTON 36: At Winchester, the Golden Falcons (5-3) outscored the Tigers (2-6) 20-8 in the third quarter to put away the nonconference game. Max Stoppenhagen scored 11 points and Harrison Schreiber had 10. 

North Central Holiday Tournament

Onstead (Mich.) 70, Fremont 60: At Pioneer, Ohio, the Eagles (5-2) outscored Onstead 19-12 in the fourth quarter but couldn't overcome a 44-28 halftime deficit. Logan Brace had 17 points and 11 rebounds, Gabel Pentecost scored 14 and Ethan Bontrager scored 13. 


Fremont Classic

FREMONT 39, JIMTOWN 25: At Fremont, the Eagles (6-8) claimed the title at their home tournament, outscoring the Jimmies in all four quarters in the final. Jada Rhonehouse led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds. 

Fremont beat Sturgis (Mich.) earlier in the day, 42-22. 

Interra Classic (Northridge)

MIDDLEBURY – Bishop Dwenger (6-10) split two results on Wednesday, falling to Merrillville 56-43 in the first game of the day and then beating NorthWood 49-41 in the second. The Saints will play their final pool play game against Rushville at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, and the result will determine who they play tomorrow afternoon in their final game of the tournament. 

Union City Invitational

UNION CITY – The Blackhawk Christian Braves (12-3) led 26-12 at halftime and rolled to a 58-43 win over Greenwood Christian. They are set to face Blue River Valley in the second day of the tournament tomorrow. Adams Central (5-7) beat Monroe Central 46-36, and will play Union City tomorrow at 10 a.m. 

WOODLAN 56, WAYNE TRACE (OHIO) 38: At Haviland, Ohio, the Warriors won their fourth straight game as Avah Smith led the way with 18 points, Taylor Kneubuhler scored 12 points and Ashton Wiedenhoefer scored 10. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday and pushed back because of snow. 

Cougar Classic

WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian (7-5) came up just short in the its home tournament, falling 28-27 to Covenant Christian (DeMotte) in overtime in the final at Grace.  Mattie Stonebraker led the Cougars with 12 points and Natalie Norris scored 11. Norris and Jessi Calizo were both named to the All-Tournament team.
