Homestead is No. 1 in IBCA girls poll

Homestead is now the top-ranked girls basketball team in the state according to the IBCA poll released Sunday evening. The Spartans (12-1) leaped two spots over previous No. 1 Crown Point (13-2) and previous No. 2 Franklin Community (17-1) for their first No. 1 ranking of the season. They received just three first-place votes and were one of five teams to get a top vote this week.

Further down in the poll, Columbia City (14-0) moved up two spots to No. 14. The Eagles are the lone undefeated team left in the poll. Snider (10-2) jumped three spots to No. 15 and Garrett (14-1) entered the rankings for the first time this year at No. 20. 

Northrop (7-3) and Warsaw (11-5) received votes.
