East Noble has announced the four inductees in the Hall of Fame Class of 2022: Mathew Holbrook, Matt Sollenberger, Mike Axel and Lina (Pasquale) Lenner. The four will be honored on Feb. 18, when the Knights boys basketball team is scheduled to play the final home game of the regular season against Wawasee. The ceremony will be held following the boys JV game.
Holbrook played football, basketball and baseball. He was first-team all-state as a football player, was a member of the 2000 sectional champion team and played in the North-South All-State game. He also earned all-conference honors in basketball and all-area honors in baseball.
Sollenberger swam and played tennis and baseball. He helped the baseball team to sectional titles in his junior and senior years, winning seven games as a senior. He played baseball at Manchester after graduating in 1995, and would go on to sign a minor league contract with the New York Mets. He played in the Mets organization for three years.
Mike Axel was a four-year starter on the tennis team and also played basketball and baseball. He won 49 singles matches over four years on the tennis team, helped the Knights to sectional basketball titles in his junior and senior seasons in 1984 and 1985 and won three sectional baseball titles in his four years on varsity, the last three as a starting second baseman. The baseball team also won a regional title in 1982.
Lenner played on the golf team for four years and the tennis team for two. She was named to the all-state golf team in 2005 and 2006 and was the individual sectional champion in both years. She led the team to a regional title in 2006 and went on to play golf at Eastern Michigan.
