Homestead boys take down No. 18 Lawrence North

The Homestead Spartans beat IBCA No. 18 Lawrence North 55-46 on Saturday.

Fletcher Loyer led No. 11 Homestead (13-5) with 25 points, and the Spartans have now won three games in a row. 

Homestead trailed 27-22 at halftime and outscored the Wildcats 13-4 in the third quarter. 

CJ Gunn scored 32 for Lawrence North. 

HUNTINGTON NORTH 49, BELLMONT 40 – At Huntington North, the Vikings led 26-20 at halftime and picked up their second conference win of the year. Zach Hubartt scored 20 points and Austin Oswalt and Cam McCarver each scored 11 for Huntington North (10-5, 2-2 NE8). Jack Scheumann led the Braves (8-6, 1-3) with 13 points. 

WARSAW 57, VALPARAISO 51 – At Warsaw, the Tigers led 27-19 at halftime and maintained a similar margin over the Vikings for the rest of the game. Jaxson Gould scored 23 points and Judah Simfukwe scored 20. Drew Heckaman scored 10 as Warsaw improved to 10-5. 

WESTVIEW 57, GARRETT 39 – At Garrett, Jasen Bailey scored 18 points as the Railroaders fell to 4-11 and 1-5 in NECC play. 

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 92, LAKEWOOD PARK CHRISTIAN 44 – At Lakewood Park, the Braves led 29-8 at the end of the first quarter and never slowed down as they improved to 13-1. Gage Sefton led the Braves with 19 points. 

Girls Basketball

HUNTINGTON NORTH 65, CONCORDIA 21 – At Concordia, the Vikings improved to 16-4 as Gracie Fields led the team with 17 points. Molly Daugherty had 12 points and five rebounds and Leah Campbell scored 10. Lauren Goodman and Cailyn Bolinger each scored eight points for the Cadets (3-16). 

WARSAW 53, CONCORD 24 – At Warsaw, the Tigers (15-6) won their final Northern Lakes Conference game of the year to improve to 7-0 in league play. Abby Sanner led Warsaw with 17 points and Kacilyn Krebs scored 14. The Tigers have clinched the NLC for the first time since 2013. 

HERITAGE 49, BLUFFTON 32 – At Heritage, the Patriots scored 19 points in the third quarter to improve to 3-2 in the ACAC and 11-10 overall. Monroe Heller scored nine points and Maryn Schreiber had eight for the Tigers (6-13, 2-4 ACAC). Ella Bickel scored 21 for the Patriots and Claire Bickel had 18. 

PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 66, FREMONT 44 – At Prairie Heights, the Eagles were outscored 25-8 in the second quarter and fell permanently behind. Jada Rhonehouse led the way for the Eagles with 25 points as Fremont fell to 6-14 and 2-7 in the NECC. 

NORTH CENTRAL 83, SOUTH SIDE 42 – At North Central, Justice Billingsley scored 20 points and Olivia Smith had 10 as South Side fell to 3-14. 

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 60, LAKEWOOD PARK CHRISTIAN 19 – At Lakewood Park Christian, the Braves improved to 15-7, led by Allie Boyer's 16 points. The Panthers fell to 6-12.
