Parkview Health is investing nearly $10 million in renovations at its Dupont Road and Carew Street campuses to accommodate increasing patient demand, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The $4.75 million project at 1818 Carew St. includes relocating three pediatric and seven family and internal medicine providers to the Carew Medical Park. The family medical group will hire several more providers for the practice, spokeswoman Jessica Miller said in an email.
Officials haven't decided how many. Providers include physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
“This growth allows us to add providers and ultimately increase access for residents in the area,” Miller said, adding that 10 to 15 workers will also need to be hired over the next two years to support the additional providers.
Other Parkview Physicians Group practices that will move into the renovated Carew space include those specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, urology and psychiatry.
The practices are currently within a half-mile of 1818 Carew St. The offices owned by Parkview will be reallocated by the health care system. Leased space will be turned back over to landlords, Miller said.
“There are patient advantages when providers are grouped closely together,” she said, adding that the new location offers covered parking.
Miller didn't have access to how many total workers will be involved when the offices move. Renovation work by Weigand Construction Co. is scheduled to be completed by late fall. Project price tags include furniture and equipment.
The $4.6 million project at 11123 Parkview Plaza Drive includes expanding offices for Parkview's obstetrics and gynecology practice on the city's north side.
In all, Parkview Physicians Group will employ 17 OB-GYN providers who will treat patients at 11123 Parkview Plaza Drive, 1818 Carew and 8028 Carnegie Blvd.
The work is being done at Entrance 2 of Parkview Regional Medical Center. The three-phase project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2018.
