Shindigz HQ redo kicks off with a big bash
SHERRY SLATER | The Journal Gazette
Shindigz, the online party supply retailer, threw its own party Thursday afternoon for its new downtown headquarters in a historic, five-story building on the southeast corner of Wayne and Harrison streets downtown. The former Harrison Place is being renamed Shindigz Place.
Anyone who donated at least $10 was allowed to swing a hammer at one of the balloon-festooned walls in the kickoff to renovations, a company spokesman said.
The event raised $1,000 for Fort Wayne's Art This Way art installation program that pays local artists to paint murals on downtown alleyways.
Some interior walls are being removed to prepare the space for Shindigz professional and administrative staff, who will move in next year.
The company's warehouse operations and the bulk of its workforce will remain in South Whitley.
