Snider grad gets picked on 'Voice'

Journal Gazette

Another city singer has started her journey on “The Voice.”

Christiana Danielle Hicks, who attended Snider High School and Huntington University, appeared in a pre-taped Blind Audition on Monday night.

Hicks performed Drake’s “Hotline Bling.” Three of the coaches – Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys – turned their chairs, but Hicks chose to join Keys’ team.

Levine told Hicks that she is “one of the greatest gifts we’ve been given on the show.”

“You could win this show,” Clarkson said about Hicks’ performance.

It will be several weeks before Hicks is again seen in the next pre-taped round of the NBC singing competition. If she advances through pre-taped rounds, Hicks will move on to live shows where viewers cast votes for whom they wish to see continue each week.

Local teenager Addison Agen took second place on the show in December. Barry Minniefield, a soul singer who was also a Fort Wayne native, appeared in 2015.
