Special events

• Union Baptist Church, 2200 Smith St., will have its third pastoral anniversary program for the Rev. Dr. Timothy and Mrs. Carmon Lake at 4 p.m. Oct. 14. The guest sermon will be delivered by the Rev. Raymond C. Dix Jr., pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

• Wings of Deliverance Tabernacle Holiness Church, 2502 Fairfield Ave., will have an appreciation service for its new pastor, Elder Robert Clark and his wife, Alesha, at 4 p.m. Sunday.

• Grace Episcopal Church, 10010 Aurora Place, will have a blessing of the animals at 3 p.m. Sunday.

• New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Highway E., New Haven, will have a rummage sale from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday with a $2 admission and free from 3 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday with a $2 bag sale from 3 to 6 p.m.

• Trinity Lutheran Church, 7819 Decatur Road, will have a fall rummage and bake sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. A $2 bag sale will be from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 13.

• Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 8010 W. Jefferson Blvd., will have a pasta dinner with a Halloween theme from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13.


• First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Road, will have its 47th annual conference, “Kingdom Collaboration,” Monday through Wednesday. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday and continues from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

• Victory Noll Center, 1900 W. Park Drive, Huntington, will have JustMatters Cultivating Nonviolence, Harvesting Peace, from 4 to 6 p.m. beginning Tuesday through Nov. 27. Cost is $75 for the nine-week program. For more information, go to or call 260-200-1740.
