AUDITION: Pulse Opera House, 1271/2 Wayne St., Warren, will have auditions for “Guys and Dolls” at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Performances are scheduled for July 12 to 28.

BOOK AWARD: Roanoke author Peggy Sue Wells was nominated for the Christy Award, which recognizes Christian fiction, for her book, “Chasing Sunrise.”

WRITING WINNERS: The Kendallville Public Library announced the following first-place winners of its annual Kleiman Creative Writing contest: fourth grade – non-fiction, Trinity Cass for “Red Pandas”; fiction, Addison English for “Banana Bob in the Attacks of Sir Evil Avocado”; poetry, Allison Walkup for “Wacky, Wacky, Poetry”; graphic novel, Kennedy Ball for “Puggy Finds Gold!”; fifth grade – non-fiction, Silas Hand for “Stephen Hillenburg”; fiction, Lauren Diehm for “The Magical Fortune Cookie”; poetry, Abby Alwine for “Original Poems”; sixth grade – non-fiction, Olivia Tibbs for “Generation to Generation: A Connection Between Family and Friends”; fiction, Evan Bassett for “The Barnyard Friends”; poetry, Trey Warren for “Ode to My Imaginary Pet”; graphic novel, Naomi Schroeder for “Journey Through the Unknown.”
