ARTS UPDATE

AUDITIONS:

• Fort Wayne Ballet will have open community auditions for “The Nutcracker” on Sept. 8 at 300 E. Main St. Beginner/intermediate dancers ages 6 to 7 will have registration beginning at 12:30 p.m. and audition from 1 to 2 p.m. Dancers 8 and older will have registration starting at 1:30 p.m. and auditions from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. For more information, go to fortwayneballet.org.

• Moscow Ballet will have auditions for “Great Russian Nutcracker” for ages 6 to 18 at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at The Dance Experience Co., 1461 Cass St., Wabash. The performance will be Nov. 1 at the Honeywell Center in Wabash. For more information or to register, go to www.nutcracker.com/dance.

EXHIBIT TOUR: The town of Dillsboro will conduct a six-stop Indiana tour of the Smithsonian-curated exhibit, “Crossroads: Change in Rural America,” as part of Indiana Humanities' INseparable initiative. The exhibit will be at the North Manchester Center for History in North Manchester from March 21 to May 3. In addition, Trine University in Angola and the Wabash County Historical Museum in Wabash received a $1,500 grant to develop programs, mini-exhibits and other projects related to the “Crossroads” exhibit.

ART ENTRIES SOUGHT: Fort Wayne Artists Guild is seeking artwork for its upcoming art show at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Entries may be registered from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 or 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 7. Exhibit dates are Sept. 8 to Oct. 4. For more information, go to www.fortwayneartistsguild.org/calls-for-entry.

ART WINNERS: The LaFontaine Art Council of Huntington announced the following first place winners of its 2019 Regional Art Show: Class 1, “Portrait of a Rooster” by Susan Ring; Class 2, “Lyriel Illusion” by Pamela Burris; Class 3, “Linked” by Adam Boyle; judge's awards, “Charger” by Rose Marie Blumer and “Mu Peasce Garden” by Rebecca Burton.

OPEN ENROLLMENT: Unity Performing Arts Foundation will have open enrollment for students ages 7 to 19 through Oct. 1. A free open enrollment workshop will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Rhinehart Music Center at Purdue University Fort Wayne, 2101 E. Coliseum Blvd. For more information, go to upaf.com.
