ARTS UPDATE

HUMANITIES AWARD: Ryan Schnurr, a writer from northeast Indiana, received a fellowship from the Indiana Humanities to develop a community memory/storytelling project that helps Fort Wayne residents manage the rapid pace of changes taking place in the city.

WORKSHOPS: University of Saint Francis will host Visual Arts and Music Technology workshops for high school students and teachers on Oct. 25. The workshops will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cost $20 per student. Teachers are free. To register, go to bit.ly/SOCAfall2019.

PADDLES WINNERS: Friends of the Rivers announced the following winners of its Paddles Aweigh community art project: People's Choice Favorite Paddle: Kathy Minnich's paddle bass guitar and Jim Brune's great blue heron; Most Imaginative Paddle: Mike Schmid's Paddle Fish; Most Dazzling Paddle: Jonathan Barker's A fish. On a paddle. For the rivers!, Shanon Colter and Maddie McHenry's Glow, Cindy Friend's Industrial River Adventure and Kathy Steininger's She Sells Seashells; Cutest Paddle: Cass House Girls' Pinocchio; Best Interpretation of Fort Wayne: Amy Keller and Julia Meek's Share the Journey; and Best Interpretation of Rivers Paddle: Janel Johnson's 4 Days on the Maumee.
