PEOPLE AND PLACES

Cheerleaders in Macy's parade

Huntington North High School varsity cheerleaders Lauryne Pearson, Arianna Betterly and Dylinn Hertel have been chosen by Spirit of America to cheer in the 2019 Macy's Thanksgiving parade in New York City. The students are the only high school cheerleaders selected from Indiana. The girls decided to audition for a chance to be in the Nov. 28 parade after the three made “All American” cheerleaders this summer but will be unable to attend the New Year's Day Parade in London. After auditioning for Spirit of America, the cheerleaders were selected to be a part of the 500-person cheerleading team which will perform along the parade route.

Pet event

Allen County SPCA will have a Howl-O-Ween event for pets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Bob Rohrman Subaru of Fort Wayne, 502 Coliseum Blvd. W. Owners are encouraged to dress pets in costumes and bring them for trick-or-treating.
