The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory through 8 p.m. in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.

Heat-index values in the 95- to 100-degree range are expected this afternoon and early evening, which may cause heat illnesses to occur, the weather service said in the advisory.

The weather service encouraged people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
