Karen Richards

Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards is retiring after 20 years, making her the county’s longest serving prosecutor. She is also the county’s first female prosecutor.

Gov. Eric Holcomb honored outgoing Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards on Monday with a Sagamore of the Wabash Award.

Former state Rep. Randy Borror and current state Sen. Travis Holdman worked with the governor on bestowing the award.

Mike McAlexander, her current chief deputy and the county's prosecutor-elect, presented Richards with the award.

Richards, the longest-serving prosecutor in the history of Allen County, became the fist woman elected to the position when she took office in 2003.
