A senior living community will host a grand opening next week to celebrate the more than $20 million development on Union Chapel Road.
StoryPoint Senior Living will formally open its newest community, StoryPoint Fort Wayne, 3715 Union Chapel Road, with a ribbon- cutting Thursday.
StoryPoint Fort Wayne, a 188,611-square-foot development with 162 units, offers independent living with a range of services including a beauty and barbershop, amenities such as gourmet dining, and daily activities for residents. It's designed to allow residents to live comfortably without “the burden of day-to-day chores,” according to its website.
The development will employ between 80 and 100 full- and part-time workers, Jane Francis, business development specialist for StoryPoint, said via email.
“We have established that we're going to serve seniors differently,” Jill Henderson, executive director at StoryPoint Fort Wayne, said in a statement. “For us, it means being fully committed to providing not only quality service, but also the absolute best experience for each of our residents.”
Initial plans for the company to construct a local facility were disclosed in 2016. The development cost $20,732,757, according to Francis. StoryPoint Senior Living develops and operates nearly 3,500 apartments across the Midwest, with locations in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. The Fort Wayne location is the company's second in Indiana, joining another in Chesterton.
The company said in a news release it has more than 37 years of experience developing and operating senior housing communities.
Each location offers unique independent senior living options with select locations offering assisted, memory care and enhanced service options, the release said. StoryPoint is a sister company of Independence Village.
