Women's hoops tourney tix on sale Tuesday

Collegiate women's basketball will bring a bit more March madness to Fort Wayne's Memorial Coliseum. And Coliseum officials couldn't be happier.

Public-admission tickets to the first Division 1 NCAA women's regional championship games ever held in Fort Wayne go on sale this morning at 10 a.m.

The games will take place March 28 to 30.

"It's the highest-level college basketball tournament that Fort Wayne has ever hosted," said Nathan Dennison, the venue's vice president of sales. "It's a big deal."

During a Coliseum board meeting today, Dennison said about 400 all-session tickets were already sold for the event.

It's a testament to the growing popularity of the women's game, he said.

Dennison said Fort Wayne is the smallest of four markets hosting the women's regionals and that speaks well of the venue's quality.

The other cities are Dallas; Portland, Oregon; and Greenville, South Carolina.
