A 128-lot single-family home development has been proposed for Coldwater Road north of Dupont Road and south of Union Chapel Road in Fort Wayne.
Called Weatherstone, the development by North Eastern Development Corp. is on the west side of the 11900 block of Coldwater in Perry Township.
The company is seeking rezoning for 77.6 acres from agricultural to single-family residential as well as approval of a primary development plan.
Ric Zehr, representing North Eastern, said the subdivision will be open to all builders, and homes will range upward from $275,000.
Weatherstone presents builders and buyers “an opportunity for a wide variety of price points,” Zehr said of the development between Talis Park and Corbin Place to the north. He added the location is within the “high-demand” Northwest Allen County Schools area.
“We continue to plat our subdivisions to meet the really strong demand right now for new construction,” he said.
If the development is approved, builders will be able to sell lots during the winter and be ready for construction by the 2020 building season in the spring, he said.
“We're going to fast-track this one,” Zehr said.
He added the project is unusual in that Coldwater Road is in the city of Fort Wayne while the land lies in Allen County.
The project will have a public hearing at 1 p.m. Dec. 12 before the Allen County Plan Commission. The meeting will take place in Citizens Square Room 30.
