JG Foundation Grants

The Journal Gazette Foundation recently approved $96,250 in grants to the following 18 nonprofit organizations. An additional $110,000.00 in grants was approved to be paid out in 2020, bringing the total grants awarded and paid out in 2019 to $415,721.

• Boys & Girls Club of Fort Wayne, $20,000 for capital grant payment three of five to support new Clubhouse. The remaining two payments will be paid in equal installments in 2020-21.

• United Way of Allen County, $20,000 for fourth-quarter payment of 2019 pledge. The Journal Gazette Foundation also approved a pledge of $80,000 for 2020.

• Indiana University Foundation, $10,000 for two journalism scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year

• Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, $10,000 for operating grant to assist the foundation in its fundraising efforts to fight breast cancer

• Visiting Nurse, $10,000 for capital grant for upgraded electronic medical records software

• Ball State University Foundation, $5,000 for operating grant to fund an academic scholarship for a journalism student from the Fort Wayne area enrolled at the university

• Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, $5,000 for operating grant to support Season 3 of Advancing Voices of Women's Civil Conversations

• Euell A. Wilson Center, $5,000 for operating grant for comprehensive after school/summer programming for inner-city youth

• Fort Wayne Philharmonic, $5,000 for operating grant to support the Young People's Concerts

• Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, $3,750 for fourth-quarter payment of 2019 pledge. The Journal Gazette Foundation also approved a pledge of $15,000 for 2020.

• Audiences Unlimited, $3,000 for operating grant for transportation expenses to community cultural events for the elderly and disabled

• Thirteen Step House, $3,000 for operating grant for use in serving alcoholics and addicts in our community and providing them with an opportunity to recover

• HSPA Foundation, $2,500 for operating grant to support the educational activities of the Hoosier State Press Association's Foundation

• The League, $2,500 for operating grant for the organization's Information & Referral Program

• Indiana Bar Foundation, $2,000 for operating grant to support the “We the People” competition

• Indiana Debate Commission, $2,000 for operating grant to assist with costs associated with the 2020 election year

• Fort Wayne Area Community Band, $1,500 for operating grant to support the legacy competition

• Special Olympics Indiana, $1,000 for operating support to assist the organization in providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for those with intellectual disabilities
