2 hit with charges of armed robbery

MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette

A man and a woman were charged Friday with robbing a man at gunpoint this week.

Marcus T. Holley, 38, and Porche S. Royal, aka Porsche Royal, 30, each are charged with armed robbery, a level 3 felony punishable by up to 16 years in prison.

Police were called around 7 p.m. Sept. 1 to Dollar General, 1142 Coliseum Blvd. N., where a man told officers he had just been robbed. A man with “poofy hair,” wearing “a blue jersey-style shirt with white or yellow stripes on it” pulled out a gun, put the weapon to his head and said “give me all your money,” the victim told investigators.

The thief made off with $645, according to charging documents filed in Allen Superior Court.

The man who said he was robbed told police the robber and a woman wearing a pink shirt got into a minivan that pulled into the parking lot of the nearby Coliseum Inn. Officers went to the motel and found a Chevrolet Traverse that “was still warm to the touch as if it had just recently been parked,” a probable cause affidavit states.

Surveillance video from the business showed a man wearing a shirt like the one the robbery victim described as well as a woman wearing a pink shirt, police said. Officers reportedly found Holley and Royal, who was wearing a pink shirt, inside one of the rooms there.

“On the bed in the room officers found a blue jersey style shirt with white stripes down the sides,” the affidavit states.

As Holley and Royal were handcuffed and led from the motel, the man who called police could see them from Dollar General.

The man identified Holley from a photo lineup as the robber, police said.
