Stalker charged with child porn possession

MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette

A Fort Wayne man ordered last month to serve four years in prison for stalking young girls was charged Wednesday with possessing child pornography.

Brad S. Stoffer, 49, of the 7000 block of Lismore Lane, had thousands of images of children engaged in sex acts on a tablet, a laptop and a desktop computer, according to court documents. The devices were seized by police in October 2018.

Interviewed then by detectives, Stoffer denied having the images and said “he only had images of girls that he had taken off of Facebook,” a probable cause affidavit alleges.

He was charged last year with 12 counts of stalking and pleaded guilty in September to six of them. A judge sentenced him in October to serve four years of a 12-year prison sentence.

Stoffer was charged Wednesday in Allen Superior Court with possession of child pornography and possession of child pornography with an aggravating factor.

In the earlier case, police said he used social media to find girls and called numbers from a phone book. Stoffer reportedly said his name was Mike or “Coach Mike.” Investigators said they caught him looking at girls through gym windows.

Prosecutors now say police found photos on an Amazon Kindle tablet “of what appears to be a subject taking a candid picture from a viewing window in a gymnastic facility of young female students while they are performing gymnastics,” the affidavit states. Other pictures allegedly show girls in a parking lot and at a swimming pool.

More than 2,300 images – many of girls with older men – were found on electronics owned by Stoffer, court documents say.
