Rig slides off icy tollway, left dangling on overpass

MISHAWAKA – A semi was left dangling from an Indiana Toll Road overpass for hours Wednesday after it slid off the tollway amid icy, frigid conditions that caused other crashes, state police said.
A car traveling in front of the FedEx semi lost its traction and skidded about 9 a.m. Wednesday, prompting the truck's driver to swerve.
The truck slipped over the tollway's edge, leaving it hanging and nearly falling onto a road below, Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Ted Bohner said.
By mid-afternoon on Wednesday crews had removed the semi from the overpass.
Bohner said a van slid off the road earlier.
