Three state lawmakers from northeast Indiana have filed to run for re-election.
Senate President Pro Tem David Long, R-Fort Wayne, filed his candidacy for what would be his sixth four-year term. First elected in 1996, Long has held the Senate’s top leadership position since November 2006.
He represents Senate District 16, which consists of western Allen County and eastern Whitley County.
Rep. Phil GiaQuinta, D-Fort Wayne, filed for House District 80, which includes south-central and southeastern Fort Wayne. GiaQuinta, first elected in 2006, seeks his sixth two-year term.
Rep. Dan Leonard, R-Huntington, filed to run in House District 50, which consists of Huntington County, western Wells County and southwestern Allen County. Leonard was first elected in 2000 and seeks his ninth two-year term.
