COLUMBUS, Ohio – The driver of a vehicle that crashed into an apartment unit in Ohio on Sunday, igniting a fire, died at the scene, police said.
Witnesses said gunshots were heard in the area just before the crash that occurred around 4:30 p.m., Columbus police said. The driver's death is being investigated as a homicide, according to a police news release.
The vehicle and building were in flames when officers arrived. The male driver's body was found in the vehicle after the fire was extinguished. Police were withholding his name until authorities could make a positive identification.
Another male who was in the vehicle at the time of the crash received minor injuries, according to police. No other injuries were reported.
Police continued their investigation Monday.
