Columbia City man killed in ATV crash
DAVE GONG | The Journal Gazette
A Columbia City man is dead after an off-road vehicle crash Thursday night in southern Noble County.
At 9:01 p.m., emergency personnel arrived at the scene near County Road 600 South and Old Indiana 102.
First responders found an unresponsive man, identified as Kenneth Stroud, 61, in the road near a 2019 Polaris Sportsman 570 that had rolled onto its side.
Stroud was treated at the scene by medical personnel and transported to a Fort Wayne hospital, where he died early Friday.
According to a news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources' law enforcement division, an initial investigation indicates that Stroud was driving recklessly in the intersection and lost control.
He was thrown from the off-road vehicle, the news release said, which then rolled over on top of him.
Stroud was not wearing a helmet or protective riding gear at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
