The Journal Gazette

A man charged this week with rape, strangulation and battery by means of a deadly weapon has been released from jail, pending further investigation, according to the Allen County prosecutor's office.

The initial charges Monday against Douglas Foy, 54, of the 6900 block of Ordway Drive, were dismissed and allowed to expire, but the case is still under review, the prosecutor's office added.

Fights stopped at elementary

Officials stopped a student “fight club” at Lincoln Elementary School in Warsaw, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.

A teacher at the K-6 school told administrators and the school resource officer that students were fighting in the restroom, according to a news release.

Students involved were disciplined.

“Although social media posts are ongoing regarding the incident, we would like to assure the public that the matter was handled as soon as the behavior was brought to light,” the release said.

Man charged in bomb threats

Warsaw police have charged a 46-year-old Silver Lake man with making bomb threat calls directly to Warsaw Community High School in September, according to a news release from Detective Sgt. Brad Kellar of the Warsaw Police Department.

Mark A. Schultz reportedly admitted Thursday that he made the calls Sept. 18 and Sept. 27 and gave in explanation that he made the false calls so he could commit a robbery at a local business. The robbery never took place, the release stated.

Schultz was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of intimidation, and more charges are expected, Kellar said.
