An arrest has been made in the death of Dominique Taylor, 18, shot while sitting in a car three days before Christmas in the 1800 block of Fox Point Trail.
Taylor and a friend were in a Villa Capri Apartments & Townhomes parking lot when gunshots were fired about 10:40 p.m. Dec. 22. The apartments are located at Fox Point Trail and South Anthony Boulevard just south of U.S. 27.
Taylor was found in the car suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Sofia Rosales-Scatena, Fort Wayne police public information officer, said today a juvenile had been arrested in Taylor's death.
Rosales-Scatena did not release the name of the arrested juvenile, but said Fort Wayne detectives had taken six handguns and a rifle off the streets and are making headway in recent homicides "and also the shooting of the 13-year-old on Monday night."
The 13-year-old boy opened the door of his home in the 3800 block of Euclid Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Monday and was shot. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
A day earlier, an 8-year-old boy was shot inside a home in the 3200 block of Logan Avenue. At first, his injuries were deemed life-threatening, but later determined to be non-life-threatening.
Rosales-Scatena said police "are currently developing solid leads on person(s) of interest in these serious crimes."
"Expect more arrests soon." Rosales-Scatena said.
