Fort Wayne police hope surveillance video can help them learn about a shooting that killed a 19-year-old Tuesday.
The man, whose identity will be released by the Allen County coroner, was shot about 3 p.m. on Abbott Street on the city's southeast side before he left the scene by car, police said, noting a woman was with him.
The vehicle traveled to northeast Fort Wayne, where it stopped at Woodview Manor Apartments near Stellhorn and Hobson roads to pick up someone before continuing to a hospital, police said.
The driver, however, stopped along Vance Avenue near Santa Lisa Court, where police and medics attended to the man, police said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.
Police described the investigation as ongoing and asked for the public to contact police at 260-427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867 with any relevant information.
Police specifically asked anyone in the area of Abbott and Pontiac streets to review surveillance video and contact police about footage that could assist the investigation.
If the coroner rules the death a homicide, it would be the second homicide in Allen County this year.
