An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a man police say caused a Jan. 10 crash that killed a baby and left three others injured.
Russel Legreid II is charged in Wells Circuit Court with causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content above .08%, causing death when operating a motor vehicle when intoxicated, causing serious bodily injury when operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content above .08%, causing serious bodily injury when operating a motor vehicle when intoxicated and an infraction of driving left of center.
The first two charges are Level 4 felonies punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
Police said witnesses saw Legreid, 61, drive a 2019 Toyota Tundra pickup into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Venture minivan on Indiana 1 in Bluffton.
A 2-month-old child was killed in the crash and the driver of the van, Eliseo Martinez Jr., 25, of Bluffton, and two passengers – age 6 and 5 – were taken to a hospital.
Investigators said last month Legreid was from Roanoke, but court filings Friday indicate he lives in Fort Wayne.
