Police seek driver of white pickup about 2 shootings

Journal Gazette

Fort Wayne police are looking for a possible suspect who might be driving a white pickup truck shown in surveillance photos.

The search stems from two shootings Sunday.

One shooting was reported at 7:48 p.m. in the 300 block of East Pettit Avenue, near the Burger King and Kroger gas station in Southgate Plaza. A second shooting was reported in the 700 block of Dolphin Drive as police were responding to the first.

Police were told a woman with a gunshot wound walked into the Burger King. Officers found a woman and man with gunshot wounds who were taken to a hospital. The woman was in critical condition, and the man was in serious but stable condition, police said.

Officers also found three vehicles involved in a crash in front of Burger King on Pettit. Shell casings were found on Pettit near the crash, police said.

“It is believed the vehicle accident, victims and gunshots are connected,” Paul Meitz, a spokesman for the Fort Wayne Police Department said in a statement. “However, police are still investigating to what extent each incident is related to one another.”

Anyone with information about who owns or drives a newer, white full-sized pickup truck with a clean hard cover and sun roof is asked to call detectives at 260-427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
