Police are seeking answers to a shooting on the city's southeast side that sent two men to the hospital – one with life-threatening injuries.
The violence happened about 10:05 p.m. Sunday in the 3100 block of Alexander Street east of South Anthony Boulevard between Pontiac and Oxford streets.
Witnesses who called 911 reported hearing several gunshots in the area, the Fort Wayne Police Department said Monday in a statement. Police were also told people came out of a house armed with guns.
Officers and paramedics found a man outside a home suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Paramedics tended to him before taking him to a hospital, where he was listed as having life-threatening injuries, police added.
Soon afterward, another man suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at a hospital, police said, adding he was driven in a private vehicle.
Emergency room physicians tended to his injuries, which were not life-threatening, police said.
Investigators spoke with potential witnesses in the aftermath. Police wanted to determine whether the men were shot inside or outside the house.
No information about a suspect had been released as of Monday evening.
