A vacant building on Hanna Street sustained heavy damage after a Thursday night fire.
Around 6:45 p.m., the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a building fire at 1413 S. Hanna St., according to a news release.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the entire structure. Firefighters tried to enter the structure but were driven out by high heat and unsafe conditions. Crews continued to fight the fire from outside the building.
It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
No one was injured while fighting the fire, nor were there any occupants in the building when the fire began. The building sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage.
The fire department was assisted by Fort Wayne Police Department, AEP, NIPSCO, TRAA and Neighborhood Code.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
