The Journal Gazette
An Ohio man died Thursday night after being thrown from the rear seat of a car when it crashed into a utility pole, the Paulding County sheriff's office said.
Kimberly A. Staudt, 20, of Piqua, Ohio, was traveling south on Ohio 49 with two passengers when her car drifted off of the right side of the road at 7:22 p.m., the sheriff's department said in a statement.
She overcorrected, crossed the centerline and continued off of the east edge of the road, striking a utility pole, the statement said.
When the car hit the pole, it said, the back-seat passenger, Maunel T. Robles Jr., 20, of Cleveland was ejected from the car. Robles died at the scene.
Staudt and the front-seat passenger, Anna V. Penny, 26 of Covington, Ohio, had non-life threatening injuries, the statement said.
The crash remains under investigation.
