The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Friday morning.

Robbery was apparently the motive when two men entered an apartment at 7934 Winston Lane on Friday, according to a police report from the Fort Wayne Police Department. The robbery ended in the city’s 20th homicide for the year.

Dominique Williams, 23, was killed at around 6 a.m. after two men entered his apartment at Preston Pointe Apartments and confronted Williams and another man who was staying at the apartment.

The uninjured resident was able to escape and place a call alerting police to the shooting.

Williams was identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office on Friday and his cause of death was from gunshot wounds.

Detectives are working to get descriptions of the two men involved in the shooting, the report said. The death remains under investigation.
