The man who was shot and killed around 6:45 p.m. at the Weisser Park pavilion has been identified as Devonte Lamont Jones, 22, of Fort Wayne.
He was the victim of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Allen County coroner. The coroner’s report indicated that Jones was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
His death is the 44th homicide in Allen County in 2016. The record is 45 homicides, which was set in 2013.
The death remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County prosecutor’s office and Allen County coroner’s office.
In an apparently unrelated shooting, about 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rodeway Inn on Goshen Road, the victim was identified as Spencir Klay Ballard, 21. He was in serious condition but was downgraded to critical at a hospital.
