The Journal Gazette

Dr. Sherry Grate, DeKalb Central Schools superintendent, is expected to become superintendent of Westfield Washington Schools later this year, the Westfield district said today.

Grate's position is pending board approval at a meeting March 29, Westfield Washington said in a statement. She is to assume her new duties July 1, replacing Mark Keen, who is retiring, the statement said.

Grate has been serving Waterloo-based DeKalb Central for 16 years in a variety of positions, the last seven as superintendent.

"I leave knowing that our schools are in good hands, with a solid team supporting the mission of developing socially responsible students who are literate, academically successful, engaged in all aspects of their education and prepared for success in the 21st century," she said in the statement.
