The Saint Francis men's basketball will have its annual tip-off gala Oct. 19 at the Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation. A cocktail hour will be from 6 to 7:15 p.m. followed by dinner and the program.
Purdue coach Matt Painter will be the featured speaker. Along with live and silent auctions, Saint Francis will honor the Blackhawk Christian boys' basketball team for its 2019 state championship.

Ex-TinCap top Pipeline Pitcher
Former TinCap MacKenzie Gore was named MLB Pipeline Pitcher of the Year. The Pipeline's No. 3 overall prospect, played for Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore and Double-A Amarillo, posting a Minor League-best 1.69 ERA.
Pair guides PFW to golf record
Holly Anderson and Laura Caetano both shot a 222 to help Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf break the 54-hole program record by 28 strokes Tuesday at the Golfweek Program Championship. The team finished with a 912 at the True Blue Golf Club, besting the record of 940, set in 2018.
3 Foresters earn weekly honors
Three Huntington athletes earned Crossroads League Player of the Week honors. Goalkeeper Gabe Greenfield was defensive player of the week, Hannah Stoffel was named women's cross country runner of the week and Adrien Gentie repeated as the men's cross country runner of the week.
North Side sets'79 team reunion
At halftime of North Side's home football game Sept. 20 against Bishop Luers, the North Side Alumni Association will honor the 1979 team that went 10-0.
Movement made in football polls
Homestead (3-0) moved into the Indiana Football Coaches Association rankings this week, appearing at No. 10. The Spartans also entered the Associated Press rankings at No. 9. Snider (3-0) stayed put at No. 5 in the coaches poll and moved up a spot to No. 5 in the AP poll. Bishop Dwenger (3-0) remains the third-ranked team in Class 5A in the coaches poll and moved up from third to second in the AP poll. East Noble (3-0) is still No. 7 in the Class 4A coaches poll and No. 8 in the media poll. Concordia (1-2) moved down a spot in Class 3A to No. 10 in the coaches poll. South Adams (3-0) moved down a spot to No. 2 in the Class A coaches poll and remained at No. 4 in the AP poll. Adams Central (3-0) stayed put at No. 3 in the coaches poll and moved up to No. 2 according to the AP, while Churubusco (3-0) moved to No. 5 in both.
Cadets, Chargers still top runners
The Concordia boys and Carroll girls remain the top-ranked cross country teams according to this week's Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches poll. The Homestead boys moved up a spot to No. 3, and West Noble fell three spots to No. 19. The Bishop Dwenger girls fell to No. 9 and the Spartans' girls fell six spots to No. 18.
Spartans tennis remains at No. 2
In this week's boys tennis poll, Homestead remains No. 2 behind Carmel. Carroll is No. 11 after losing to Homestead. Bishop Dwenger fell to No. 25, just behind No. 24 Canterbury.
Latest rankings for volleyball
In the state volleyball coaches poll, Bishop Dwenger sits at No. 3 in Class 3A and Concordia is No. 4. Garrett and Angola, which had both been ranked in Class 3A, fell out of the top five.
Ex-City champion 2-under at event
Fort Wayne's Mitch Rutledge, a former City Champion, went 2 under through three rounds at a Korn Ferry Tour pre-qualifying tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska, at Wilderness Ridge. He advanced to the first stage of qualification, which will be in October, as he tries to make the PGA Tour's developmental circuit.
ECHL All-Star Game is Jan. 22
The ECHL All-Star Game will be Jan. 22 in Wichita, Kansas. The host Thunder will have two squads and the Eastern and Western Conference teams will be the other two, competing in a 3-on-3 round-robin format.
Menard retiring from NASCAR
Paul Menard will retire at the end of the season, and Wood Brothers Racing has hired Matt DiBenedetto to replace him.
US Solheim team loses member
The U.S. was forced into a change three days before the start of the Solheim Cup after Stacy Lewis pulled out because of a back injury. U.S. captain Juli Inkster replaced Lewis with Ally McDonald, who will make her debut in the team event.
