Fort Wayne FC earns draw vs. Kalamazoo

Fort Wayne FC earned a 1-1 draw in USL League Two play at Kalamazoo FC on Friday at Mayors Riverfront Park in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Indiana University recruit Samuel Sarver score for FWFC (1-4-4 Great Lakes Division) inside the first 15 minutes, but Kalamazoo FC (6-1-3) drew level on a penalty kick goal from Evan Marquess in the 78th minute.

Fort Wayne, now unbeaten in three straight, pulled within one point of seventh place Grand Rapids FC in the Great Lakes Division table. FWFC plays host to the Flint City Bucks at 6 p.m. Sunday at Bishop Dwenger's Shields Field.

TinCaps rained out in Dayton

The fourth game of the TinCaps' series against the Dayton Dragons at Day Air Ballpark was rained out. The teams will play a doubleheader tonight, starting at 6 p.m. Both games will be seven innings. Tickets for tonight's scheduled game in Dayton will be honored for both games.

Nowitzki rejoins Mavs as adviser

Dirk Nowitzki is joining the Dallas Mavericks as an adviser in the wake of the abrupt departures of general manager Donnie Nelson and coach Rick Carlisle. The franchise leader in nearly every category said he considered Nelson and Carlisle mentors and wanted to do what he could to help the Mavericks find their replacements and build for the future.

Celtics trade for Horford

The Celtics are bringing Al Horford back, trading point guard Kemba Walker to Oklahoma City for the five-time All-Star in Brad Stevens' first major move since he moved from the Boston bench to the front office. Boston will also send the No. 16 overall draft pick and a 2025 second-rounder to the Thunder and receive 7-footer Moses Brown and a 2023 second-round pick in return.

Beal commits to Olympic team

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal has committed to playing for the U.S. at the Tokyo Olympics, according to a person with knowledge of the decision who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team has not been revealed publicly.

LPGA results

In Grand Rapids, Michigan Leona Maguire shot an 8-under 64 to take a three-stroke lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic. It is the second straight week the Irish rookie has topped a leaderboard. The 26-year-old former Duke player is trying to become the first Irish winner in LPGA Tour history.

Canadiens coach positive for virus

Montreal interim coach Dominique Ducharme has tested positive for the coronavirus. The NHL said that Ducharme received a confirmed positive COVID-19 test nine days since receiving his second vaccine dose. Barkov wins Selke Trophy

Florida center Aleksander Barkov has won the Selke Trophy as the NHL's best defensive forward for the first time in his eight-year career. Barkov was announced as the winner of the award before Vegas faced Montreal in Game 3 of one semifinal series. He was a finalist for the first time.
