IPFW and Indiana University have never played one another in men’s basketball. That will change on Dec. 9, when the Mastodons visit Assembly Hall in Bloomington.
“We are excited to be playing Indiana for the first time in school history,” IPFW coach Jon Coffman said in a statement issued by the school. “We are looking forward to the challenge of Assembly Hall. I have no doubt we will have a great following trek to Bloomington to support us.”
The contest is one of eight non-conference home games for the Hoosiers, who announced their full 2015-16 schedule on Thursday.
Indiana opens Big Ten play Dec. 30 at Rutgers and then travels to Nebraska Jan. 3.
Indiana’s usual home-and-home set with rival Purdue is on hiatus, the lone meeting Feb. 20 in Bloomington.
The schools the Hoosiers face twice this season are Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Indiana’s season opener is Nov. 13 at home against Eastern Illinois, one of three games before the Hoosiers play in the Maui Invitational.
Alcorn State, Morehead State, McNeese State and Kennesaw State fill out the home non-conference slate.
The Hoosiers have five days of rest (their longest break of the conference slate) between a Jan. 10 home game against Ohio State and a Jan. 16 trip to Minnesota.
Reigning Big Ten champion Wisconsin visits Assembly Hall on Jan. 5. The Badgers play host to the Hoosiers on Jan. 26.
