Patterson, Spartans cruise

It was quite a week for Homestead senior Ayanna Patterson. In Tuesday's romp over South Bend St. Joseph, the UConn commit earned recognition for her selection in the McDonald's All American Game.

On Friday at Homestead, the Spartans handled Northrop, 65-33, to complete an unbeaten run through the SAC. And Patterson nearly matched the Bruins' offensive output herself, finishing with 31 points to go with 11 rebounds, marking her 18th double-double of the season for Class 4A No. 1 Homestead (21-1, 9-0), which enters the postseason on a 17-game win streak.

Northrop (13-7, 6-3) enters the postseason having won five of seven.

GARRETT 55, LAKELAND 32: In LaGrange, the Class 3A No. 2 Railroaders claimed their second straight Northeast Corner Conference undefeated regular season crown. Morgan Ostrowski led all scorers with 24 for Garrett (23-1, 10-0), which has a 21-game win streak as sectionals commence next week.

SNIDER 70, CARROLL 60: At Carroll, Jyah Lovett scored 26 points, Destini Craig added 22 and the Panthers (17-3, 8-1) secured second place in the SAC.

Kayla Gibbs paced three in double figures for the Chargers (13-8, 7-2) with 19.

BISHOP LUERS 34, WAYNE 31: At Luers, the Knights trailed 24-22 after three quarters before pulling out the conference win. Anna Parent for Luers (12-10, 4-5 SAC) and Emilia Diaz for Wayne (9-11, 2-6) both led their respective teams with 12 points.

BISHOP DWENGER 60, SOUTH SIDE 51: At Dwenger, the Saints led 34-15 at the half before the Archers made things interesting. Dwenger (11-13, 5-4 SAC) held South Side (3-16, 2-7) to 25% shooting (18 of 71) from the field.

NORWELL 66, EAST NOBLE 16: In Ossian, the host Knights (18-4, 6-1 Northeast 8) cruised to victory, securing a share of the conference title in the process, getting 18 points from Makenzie Fuess. East Noble (4-15, 1-5) has lost five of six.

COLUMBIA CITY 65, NEW HAVEN 14: In New Haven, the Eagles (19-3, 6-1 NE8) cruised to victory, securing a share of the conference title in the process. New Haven fell to 0-18, 0-7 in the NE8.

HUNTINGTON NORTH 43, DEKALB 26: In Huntington, the Vikings (18-4, 6-1 NE8) took a 17-2 lead after one quarter in clinching a share of the NE8 title, marking the first time the league has seen a three-way tie for the conference championship. DeKalb (9-13, 2-5) enters the postseason 4-3 in its last seven games.

Boys

HOMESTEAD 68, NORTHROP 55: At Homestead, Fletcher Loyer's double-double (28 points, 10 rebounds) lifted the Spartans (14-5, 5-1 SAC) past the Bruins (8-8, 3-2), who saw Omarion Ennols lead the way with 18 points.

BISHOP DWENGER 43, SOUTH SIDE 40: At Dwenger, Owen Shively's three-pointer with two seconds remaining broke a 40-all tie and handed the Saints (6-6, 2-3 SAC) the win over the Archers (6-6, 3-3).

SNIDER 76, CARROLL 63: At Carroll, Aidan Lambert's 32-point night helped the Panthers (11-3, 5-1 SAC) keep pace atop the conference race and secure the varsity sweep over the Chargers (1-13, 1-5), who got 14 points from Jaxon Pardon.

CONCORD 66, WAWASEE 56: In Syracuse, Keaton Dukes scored 26 for the Warriors (5-9, 0-4 Northern Lakes Conference), but three double-digit scorers lifted the Minutemen.

NORTHWOOD 70, WARSAW 51: In Nappanee, Cade Brenner's 31-point night lifted the Class 3A No. 1 Panthers (16-1, 5-0 Northern Lakes Conference) past the Tigers (10-6, 3-2), despite 19 and 18 points from Jaxson Gould and Judah Sikfumwe, respectively.
