Sports motivation expert to share secrets at PFW

The X Count in partnership with Purdue Fort Wayne Athletics is hosting “Nerves, Anxiety and Performing Under Pressure” by Raymond Prior, Ph.D. with special guest Jason Parker, a four-time U.S. Olympia. The presentation is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 30 at Rhinehart Music Center on the PFW campus.

As one of the country's top peak performance professionals, Prior has nearly a decade of experience educating athletes, parents and coaches. Prior takes a refreshing approach to mental training, making it easy to understand and apply at the individual and team levels.

His message is relevant to all hoping to experience fulfillment in studies, relationships, sports, career and life.

During the presentation, Prior and Parker will dissect the role of anxiety on performance and the enjoyment of the journey to greatness.

Prior's presentation and Parker's interview are part of a broader training experience for athletes from around the nation. Elite athletes have been invited to train with Prior and Parker.

State parks deer hunt applications to open

Hunters can apply online for state parks deer hunts beginning Monday by go to Applications are only available online and close Aug. 26.

Applicants must possess any valid license to take a deer in Indiana at the time of the application, excluding an apprentice license, and must be Indiana residents who will be 18 years of age by the date of the first hunt. Once an application has been submitted, information cannot be changed. Applications must be completed by the application deadline.

Hunters will be selected through a randomized computer drawing. A link to view drawing results will be posted at by Aug. 30.
